3 Best Sporting Events To Watch This Week

OhioST

The coming week in the world of sports has plenty of events to offer for sportsbook bettors but there are a few events that truly demand your undivided attention.

College Basketball: Big Ten-ACC Challenge

This is the premier set of non-conference games in the early portion of every college basketball season. The lower-level parts of this two-conference collection aren’t special, but there are several big games to be found each December when the Big Ten and ACC get together. On Tuesday, Michigan goes to Cameron Indoor Stadium to take on the Duke Blue Devils. On Wednesday, the featured game is North Carolina’s visit to Michigan State. North Carolina can be great, as shown in its win over Louisville, or really bad, as shown in losses to Belmont and UAB. Also on Wednesday, Maryland plays Ohio State and Wisconsin plays Virginia. That Wisconsin-Virginia game will be fascinating because both teams play the same basic style. They like to slow the game down, play rugged halfcourt defense, and work the shot clock. If Wisconsin and Virginia get into the 60s, it would be a slight surprise.

NCAA Football: Big Ten Championship Game

Ohio State Buckeyes vs. Michigan State Spartans

This is the crown jewel of the coming week of the college football season. Ohio State is playing to get into the BCS National Championship Game, probably against Florida State. The Buckeyes are 24-0 under head coach Urban Meyer, but they need this game to punch their ticket to the national championship game and make the most of their season. Michigan State’s defense gets the publicity, but the Spartans’ offense – led by quarterback Connor Cook – will be the big key here.

NFL Football: Carolina Panthers @ New Orleans Saints

This is yet another showstopper on the sports calendar. Carolina has won eight games in a row, moving from 1-3 to 9-3. The Panthers know that if they win this game, they will take the lead in the NFC South Division with only three games left in the regular season. Moreover, they will host the Saints in week 16. This is a game New Orleans has to win on its home field. Then, the Saints won’t have to win two weeks later in Charlotte.
